The only tracks I can remember offhand would be Sandover Village, Misty Island, and some of the zoomer levels (the parts of the game where you travel from one village to the next).Ĭontrols: Yeah, you can probably tell the controls were inspired by the PS1 Crash Bandicoot games because I found Jak to control similarly to the Crash games. As for the music, it’s atmospheric, but it doesn’t really seem very memorable to me in the slightest. Daxter, while I like him as a character, since he provides some good comic relief, he can get a little annoying at times, but most of the time, I don’t mind him.

Jak, however, doesn’t speak at all, at least in this game since he does get a lot of dialogue in 2 and 3. Sound/Music: The voice acting is fine for the time, so no actual complaints here. Anyway, the levels look pretty good for the time, and some levels really stand out for me in terms of aesthetics and level design, such as Misty Island, Precursor Basin, and the Lost Precursor City. However, if you’re playing the HD Collection, you might notice some pixilation with some of the textures, but for me, I don’t really notice it very much, if at all. Graphics: For an early PS2 game, the graphics are really good, although the character models during the cutscenes look like they have their faces painted on, but their animations, both in-game and cutscene, are surprisingly pretty fluid considering when the game came out.

Until I got my PS3 many months ago, I was not well-versed at all in any of Naughty Dog’s games, but after playing some of their games, like the Jak series, the Uncharted series, and the Crash series (the PS1 games), I can probably say that Naughty Dog was a pretty good developer, and Jak and Daxter is no exception. Well, since I’m reviewing the Ratchet and Clank series, I figure I might review another Playstation series, and what better series to start reviewing than one of Naughty Dog’s games, Jak and Daxter.
